Catherine was born and raised in Rockville. She graduated from West Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a certification in early-childhood education. Catherine earned her master’s degree in elementary education at Loyola College in Maryland. She is trained in Orton-Gillingham Plus, a teaching approach designed to help struggling readers, including those with dyslexia. Before staying at home with her children, Catherine worked in Montgomery County Public Schools as an elementary classroom teacher. Catherine joined the staff of SRNS in 2015 as a lead teacher in the 4-year-olds program, and she transitioned to SRS as the first-grade teacher in 2018. Catherine and her husband, Jeff, have four children, Hannah (SRS ’17), Hayden (SRS '19), Caitlyn (SRS '22) and Brandon.
