Norma was born in Bogota, Colombia, where she started her music education at a young age in the Music Academy Centro de Orientación Musical Cristancho. At the academy, she learned music theory, grammar, and solfege along with four years of violin, followed by piano and vocal technique. She earned her vocal technique degree in 2001. Norma joined the choir Legato and performed in several venues around the country. While in Bogota, she worked for seven years at the Gymboree Play and Learn in their early childhood development program. This is where she acquired her passion for teaching music to children. In 2010, Norma moved to the US and during the next four years was the vocal teacher at the School of Rock in Coral Springs, Florida. Her family then moved to Maryland and became part of the St. Raphael community when her oldest daughter entered SRNS in 2017. Since then, Norma has worked in different preschools teaching music, private piano and singing lessons at home.
